Program Access Defaults

Or whatever they are called. Our Administrative Assistant finally upgraded to I.E. 8 from 6.0 (with my help) before her vacation last week. She access her email (Outlook Express) from the button on the browser. It worked before, but now nothing happens when the button is pushed. I attempted to set her program defaults because they all say use my current program. However, every time I change them to Outlook Express for email, I.E for browser etc. and click okay, it appears to save, but seems to go back to current program as default. Shouldn't they show as the program? If that isn't the issue, I don't know why the read mail button still will not work. She runs XP. Thanks.

I tried that and it shows up as being Outlook Express (which is what she uses.) Even doing it again and applying doesn't make it work.

Put an icon for Outlook Express on her quick launch bar and ask her to change her habit pattern.

Maybe I can ask her to change her habit pattern over the phone. I'm too skeered to do it in person. Seriously though, I have her using the button on her keyboard (I showed her that when the problem popped up), however she wants to do it the same old way. I wonder if the download is defective. I might try to reinstall first and see if it helps. The weird thing is I think the other buttons are okay (the ones I looked at I think). I will see what I can do.

Might check this out.

Step 2 is what glc mentioned, but Step 1 is a little different. Maybe it needs both steps to be fixed. Worth a shot.

Step 1 does not apply if you are using the Classic start menu.
