"Authenticated Version" Server 2003
My company leases 7 servers from a very large Data Center. (DC)
I will be switching one of them to Terminal Server. The DC is telling me that the current Server 2003 Standard Edition 32bit is an unauthenticated version and that I have to request a reload to an Authenticated Version. On one hand the reload isn't a big deal since the machine isn't being used yet. On the other hand - unauthenticated version sounds like its NOT "Genuine." Thoughts

A friend on another site guessed it might be a "image with the same key code" type issue....They have the correct number of codes but due to using the same code in the image process would prevent the adding of TS license.
This sounds like it might be a winner. |

Sounds like whoever set the machines up took shortcuts.

Thanks for the reply.
They have Thousands of machines with slightly custom installs. I have a feeling they do just like Dell does and use a "master key" so to speak and then stick a COA on the said of the machine. |
