I have Windows XP SP3 with all the latest updates via Automaic updates.
It is AMD Athlon 300+ system with 32 Bit OS.

My son wanted to play some and games and found it needs .Net framework.

I am trying to install .Net Framework 35. and Version4. I am getting error and the installation is not successful.

I have attached the Log file created by .Net Installation.

Can anyone help me resolving this??

No attached log file.

From your description it sounds like you're trying to run more than one install at the same time and that could be the problem.

Here : Download details: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer)

Make sure you have the latest Installer for windows on your machine, 3.1 or later, and save 4.0 to disk and install from there.

Unless something about one of those games requires 3.5 you only need 4.0 and it must run as the only install at that time.
Do not use the automatic update for this, in fact you may need to disable it while the 4.0 install runs.

Thanks Pam123 for your quick reply.

I could not reply early as I could not try your suggestion.

I tried installing version 4 too but unfortunately I am not successful and not really able to point out the exact issue.

Now I have decided to go with formatting one partition and reinstalling the Windows Operating system.

As informed earlier, I am facing this issue with Windows XP SP3.

With this I am not sure to reinstall Windows XP SP3 will help. Is there any other suggestion to install any other OS? I mean Windows Vista or Windows 7.

I am even OK to go with Windows XP sp2.

Kindly help me and advice me.

Advance thanks for all the help.

With regards,

Going by the specs in your signature I would say keep XP SP3 until you're ready for a new computer.

Now is there any information at all when the install fails?
Is it just reading : "Fatal error during installation"
and nothing else?

Is anything showing up in Event Viewer ?

Thumbs up

This was an excellent suggestion to look at the Event log!!!

I had not seen the event log. Now when I reviewed the error, I noticed that one specific file was creating this issue. I got the suggestion to rename or remove that file.

I deleted the file...amigosh!!!

With this I am able to successfully install .Net Frame work.

That was a GREAT SOLUTION!!!

Thanks very much for your advice and help PAM123.

Thank you again.
