XP service pc 3 bad file
Service pc 3 has a bad file and will not install. I have tried 3 times and soon as it gets to this file it stops. c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download\9866fb57abdc0ea2f5d4e132d055ba4e
It even asks me if Iwant to skip the file but still stops the install. I would like to up date but is there any way I can get around this. I can't understand why they would have a bad file in the download ???

Hi
Did you try re-downloading it? It may have been corrupted in the process. I have rarely had downloads that didn't work until I did it again, but it happens. Mike |

As I said Mike I tried 3 times. I made sure to clean up after each try. I have never had update problems before.
Also all it was is a music file. Whu would it not let me skip it like it asked? Last edited by seagull; 09-04-2010 at 12:23 PM. |

See if you can uninstall.net framework 1.1 and then try it.
I had a similiar issue, I forgot the exact details but it ended up being the different versions of .net framework not playing nicely with each other. I had to use a program called something like 'windows cleanup' and reinstall each version of .net framework seperately. Once that was done, XP's sp 3 loaded no problem.
