Boom MS Office programs going scroll crazy - Help!!!

For the last few days, whenever I use Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Word, Microsoft Help, anything at all with scroll bars, I have a problem with automatic scrolling. That's all I can say. The scroll bar just goes up and down of its own accord. Sometimes, in IE the page will automatically go back to the last viewed page also. (it's done it a couple of times while I'm typing this)

Anyone know what the problem might be? I have had Windows ME and Office 2000 installed for at least 6 months and no problems up to now. I've run Scandisk and Norton Antivirus and it's still happening. It's driving me crazy.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Hi catesby,

Your mouse drivers could have gotten corrupted. Did you install anything new just prior to this happening?

One thing that you could try is to go into Device Manager, remove the mouse (the icon, not the actual mouse) and then reboot. Windows will find the mouse again and reload the drivers.

If your problem remains, try another mouse. If the scrolling problem stops, it could mean your original mouse has seen better days.

In addition to Cricket's post, you may have a sticky key on your keyboard. Clean or swap out.
