MSbackup is trouble, Restore Point is trouble

Hi All
I’m trying to install Msbackup from the WinME Install disk. This led to another problem with Restore.
I Installed MSbackup. When I restarted the system it came up with the dreaded blue screen with some words saying in effect, you screwed up, I can’t start. Now I feel the flush run the length of my body from head to toe, and the heart is beginning to pound. What did I do? Am I in big trouble? There goes my weekend. You all know the feeling. Several shut down and starts resulted in safe mode. Uninstalled Msbackup. Restarted, system booted OK. Pheeewww!

Don’t wish to try Msbackup again unless I can set a Restore Point. Tried Restore Point and got this.

‘System Restore not able to create Restore Point.
Restart and run Restore again.’

1. What the heck am I doing wrong with Msbackup?
2. Why can’t I run restore? Storage size set to 2GB

Sony RX370, WinME, 60G HDD
Any Ideas? Is there b/u s/w than WinME, free? I would still like to get restore running.
Thanks
