Boom weird XP problems

I bought a PCI to USB card with Opti chipset and something really weird happens when i try to install it. The card is recognized and everything, but when Windows XP tries to install the driver for it, a message saying "The data is invalid" is displayed and then nothing... I tried removing my other USB hubs, running windows in safe mode, but nothing helps.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Are you using WinXP default drivers, or drivers provided by the manufacturer?

If manufacturer: Are the drivers made to work under XP? Many drivers won't -- check with the manufacturer for updated drivers, or if WinXP ships with them, use default drivers.

If using XP default drivers: Try the manufacturer's drivers, and look to see if there are updated drivers available.
