XP/2K Shutdown..
I used to be running windows 2000, but it had begun getting buggy for me, it would freeze and crash all the time, gave me tons of error messages, etc. Also, about half the time when I told it to shutdown, it would get to the "windows is shutting down" screen and then freeze, and I'd have to restart.
I recently (yesterday) upgraded to windows XP Professional, and formatted my harddrive, and converted to NTFS from FAT32. All was well but now It does basically the same thing when I shut down or reboot. It just gets to the "Windows XP is shutting down" screen and freezes, then I have to restart. This shutdown problem doesn't happen EVERY time, its weird. I tried to see how often it happens just by turning it on and off a few times and it didnt happen, but I think when I use the computer for a duration of time its much more likely to happen.. ![]() Any info/suggestions? Ideas? Thanks My system info: Athlon T-bird 1ghz azza kt133a mb udma 100 <-- mobo pc133 384mb ram There are other little glitches that I notice with XP.. I have to say, the more I use it, the less impressed I am by it... |

Make sure APM and ACPI are on in the bios. That should do the trick.
