Netwoking 2 PCs with USB or crossover cable.

I need to transfer files from my laptop to my desktop. Could anyone telle me how to proceed with either USB or crossover ethernet cable. I would gratefully appreciate a step by step prcodure.

My laptop is running ME and the desktop 98SE both of them have Norton Internet Security installed and running.

there is a whole article on networking under the features tab. check it out and see if that answers your questions. you are right that you will need a crossover cable to connect to two pcs without a hub inbetween. you will need network cards in both to plug in the cable to and then install the networking software.
