Windows 2000 Upgrade from NT4

I need to buy Windows 2000 Professional to run on my PC & laptop and to support some customers. Over a year ago I used to use NT4 but gave up due to poor plug & play & moved to W98SE. So I guess I could just purchase the W2K upgrade from NT4 for myself.
Presumably this means, NT4 has to be fully installed in order to upgrade.
However I will also need to take the W2K CD when I visit clients.
So would I be able to install this upgrade version on any of their PCs if they have W2K installed?
Or do I have to purchase a full version of W2K Professional ?

I have upgraded from win 98 to 2000 without any problem it just wants you to have a version of windows you could check on microsofts web site or I'll bet the upgrade cd packaging will tell you what you can upgrade from so just check when you buy

The upgrade disk I have does not have the files to make a boot disk but otherwise seems the same as full version, when I go places I always take the full version CD instead of the upgrade, more versatile.

I'm not clear on how I install Windows 2000 upgrade. I need to do it as a dual-boot on my system as I am running W98SE already. Do I first have to install Windows NT4 on a new partition & then W2K upgrade on top? How does the diual-botting option happen?

windows 2000 will see these and ask you which partitions you wish to install on and if you wish to dual boot win 200 has a pretty smart install

Well for starters I don't think it's possible to do a "dual boot" using a "upgrade CD". You need the full version.

Iman, I think you'll find you're mistaken. I have had it confirmed by MS$ that you can dual boot with the W2K upgrade from NT4 CD. So that's what I have ordered.

You can just boot from the Win2k update Cd and install it.
During installation it will tell you, that is it an Upgrade and wants to know if you are allowed to use it-> means: you need a previous version.

Yous change the CD and tell the Setup programm to look on the CD drive.
Then it will go on to the next Step. Now put in your Win2k CD again and install it. Now Prrblem!
