Freewwweb runs on a standard DUN connection with no proprietary dialer, no ad banner, and no required software. Just go to a working machine, go to www.freewwweb.com, click on "the free deal", then the 'quick download" instructions "for users who already have a web browser". This will give you the DUN settings, server names, etc. and a link to the signup page.

Address.com works with Win2000 too- i'm using sometimes. Haven't had problems yet.
But I need ISP with POP e-mail and Usenet. It seams I'll have to pay again. Freewwweb I guess works good in some areas. I'm thinking to get rid of Freewwweb- cannot access newsgroups anymore9settings unchanged), mail server gets f~~ked up sometimes, connection bad in evening times. No tech support- no questions(e-mail) are answered. ------------------ Perception is reality ------------------------- Electric Sun Records PC stuff 4 sale |

Gintaras - the best of both worlds may be Surfree. It costs $14.95 a month but you may download an OPTIONAL ad banner, and they rebate you 20 cents an hour that you use it. You may open and close the ad banner at will. This means that if you can deal with an ad banner for 75 hours a month, you have free service. Surfree uses psi.net and Navipath dialups, 1 pop mail account and 4 more web mail accounts, usenet with 75000 groups, and personal web space. First 30 days is free. 24/7 tollfree tech support. If you sign up, use me as a referral please. (glcarey)

Go figure - it still worked when I posted it.
Worldshare is the only one left that I know of that has no ad banner and *should* work in a standard DUN. |
