Using Win NT 4 on a server. For 2 of the last 3 tape backups, the Seagate backup program has stopped and said that there was a CRC error on the tape backup device. The error log says to not use the tape again.
Is it really the tape (or tape drive) that has the CRC error--or is it coming from the hard drive? I've had my share of CRC problems with hard drives before, but not with a tape device. Any suggestions? Is the hard drive going bad, or is the problem really the tape device? |

Clean tape drive - try brand new tape. CRC usually means some type of physical error.
