changing "registered to" name

just bought a computer from a friend(running XP), only 4 weeks old...bad buy for him, good for me ! only thing is...under system properties he is down as the registered user, i would like my name here instead, how do i change this ? also, i changed the name on the admin account to mine yet docu and history folders all still start with his name, can i change this ? many thanks in advance........

Hi ireland73,
Go to start, run type regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE click +
software
microsoft
windows
current version
Double click Registered owner in right pane
Type in correct name

done all of the above, but registered user option is not there???

Instead of under windows you need to go under Windows NT then current version. You'll see it under that.
