Boom xp problems

I tried installing winxp on my system,it already had win 98 installed,The system is an amd 500 with a 13 gb hard drive .My problem came at about 13 minutes to completion of win xp install.I got this error code ,and it wont allow me to delete the win xp install.I even went to safe mode and tried to get my old win 98 operating again. Is there any way i can get rid of xp and maybe get my old win 98 sytem back?I was thinking is about trying to erase my hard drive and start over ,but I cant even get to a point to erase it.Any help woulp be appreciated.Would clearing my cmos memory on my mainboard allow me to reinstall my win 98?

With the WinXP CD in the tray, turn the computer off and then on again. Hopefully it will ask if you want to boot from the CD. Say yes and follow the instructions to format your hard drive and install XP clean.

Forgot to mention in my earlier reply... If you aren't given the option to boot from the CD you may have to change the BIOS to allow booting from the CD or change the order to boot with your CD-ROM drive listed first. To get into BIOS setup usually you hold down the F8 or escape key. Many systems are different and usually flash a quick message about holding down a particular key to enter setup. Assuming you can boot from the CD and reformat your hard drive, I strongly recomment selecting the NTFS file system.

CRASH

I had the same thing happen to me. Too late I determined my dvd drive was shot. I should have realized because my scrabble game/cd would freeze a lot.
It was a trip not having any os and installing XP.

Nah, it wasn't too bad and am I ever happy with XP's stability.

Angry Fire Xp install problem

Hope you have a floopy to boot fron, and a win 98 one at that. Boot using a floopy with cd rom support. Then install win 98 into the same directory it was in b 4. That will make 98 more or less like it was, and allow you to get rid of xp parts that are on your machine, and ready to try again. Just be sure b 4 you try again to run scan disk in 98. Disk errors present during xp install often send xp into a fatal spiral. goota love mickey soft in the head, eh !!!
