Hi! Everyone!
Well I am happy now after months of off and on trying to put XP Full Version along with ME on the same drive!--O!--One thing I ran up against and had to figure out was this.--"The ACPI is not fully compliant with the BIOS. We have stopped installation of XP so that it will not damage your computer"---that popped up many times making me restart the computer.I even pulled the CD out of the tray a few times. I did finally go through this road block!!!--------below is something I have typed up over 2 days time. Please excuse the grammer.I just want to get it out and not check out things.I wrote this just after installation of XP. Hi ! I think I just done it . I can't begin to tell you what I have been through. I have gone through WW 3 ! at this time 3:25 AM ! Tuesday night I will give you the bottom line. I thought to myself, since I have Full Version, ther should be a place in installation where XP gives you an option to which drive to put it in. Finally found it and typed D: drive and it started. Installation stopped many times and asked and told me that I might not be able to complete. I had to think to chose work around that MIGHT let me continue. I did after a few restarts, that I had to do manually, it kept on installing. At one point, I had to push and hold the shutdown button, to COMPLETELY shut off my computer. At one point, during a stoppage just took out the CD (XP) and restart my computer to give up and go to ME and surf like I always do for the rist of what night I had left. Guess what?--when I started back up my computer thinking of it loading ME, it said "Put the XP CD and continue"---wow!, continue!. I put the CD back in the tray and watched and sweatted as XP installed !------When I re-stared the computer, a black screen with white text asked me to chose which system to go into.---This supprised me, because I was looking for Partition Commander interface to come up. I chose ME not the other. I wanted to see if it would boot up all right and it did. Right now I am to worn out to restart the computer to see if I got the installation of XP. I will sleep on it and wait till late Wednesday afternoon to see.-----------------I just love Drama and Supence-------I just don't won't to know now and be let down and have to sleep on it if I failed.---------------------------------Donald Update Wednesday20th Night/Thursday Morning (21)about 24 hours later(now) 1:AM Thr. morning: Everything is working well. XPis doing very well. I am typing this in the XP OS. I'll have to install many things that I have in ME into XP. Now, I can learn and compare XP to ME without having to remember ME when I had up graded to XP 2 weeks ago. I can see things in XP and then go over to see where it was in ME and do a good compare. Still having theME that I love so well with me now is great.---------------What next Donald ? Hummmmmmmm, this cheap Windows 2000 PRO Full Version CD that I bought 10 months ago,if it works, will be next. I'll put it on an E: drive that I soon will creat. Will I have H--- installing it as I did with XP on another drive-------who knows----------------------Donald |
