Hi All, I just installed WinXP Pro all went great but i notice my hard drive light goes on every once and awhile for no reason, im doing nothing but looking at my desktop
Somtimes it blinks like crazy moving files or something? Why does XP access my HDD for no reason? Don't know if i like XP thrashing my hard drive all the time. Theres no NIC card yet installed and it has never been online.Thank's for your time!! Nemises.... |

Hi Nemises,
It could be the System Restore feature doing system checkes. Disable it (right click on My Computer, choose Properties and then System Restore tab) and see if the HDD is still being accessed.

Is your network connection active when this happens? Are things like ZA, Task Scheduler, Norton's running?
Do a Cntl., Alt., Del. and click the process tab and see what's running. Chas

ZA is Zone Alarm which provides internet protection. Some here love it, I've had a lot of problems and quit using.
Anyway sounds like a new sys. and I agree with Dr. Bring up the process tab like I suggested earlier and notice what changes when the HD is being accessed. Chas |
