Hi spicychicken,
Do you have a lot of stuff running in background? If you have a lot of icons next to your clock, those are all programs running in background. What speed is your CPU? How much RAM does your system have? When your cursor is flashing, is the hard drive light flashing too? Cricket

Hi Cricket,
The only programs i have running in the background is Norton AV, zonealarm & gravis stinger. I have disabled gravis stinger but problem still occuring. There is no Hard drive activity when the pointer is flashing. I am running an AMD Athlon 1200 with 256mb Memory. |

Hi spicychicken,
Are your drivers all up to date? Video card, motherboard chipset, DirectX, soundcard, etc...? What mouse are you using? Are you using the Windows generic mouse driver or the driver that came with the mouse? When you press Ctrl Alt Del right after boot up, you only have those programs running? No Find Fast or any Norton Utilities? No IRQ's being shared? Cricket

Hi spicychicken,
Just upgrading DirectX 8.0 to 8.1 cleared up the problem? Could be your video card drivers were optimized for DirectX 8.1. Glad you got your problem cleared up. Cricket

Hi spicychicken,
Get Ad-Aware by Lavasoft and do a check for spyware. Also, try checking for trojans with The Cleaner by Moosoft. Both programs can be downloaded from Download.com Cricket

OK, I now know how to stop the pointer from flashing.... if i open up regedit & then close it again, the pointer stops flashing. I have to do this everytime i connect to the web. Mmmm very strange!! Any clue as to why this is?
