Yahoo Messenger webcam problem

hello All...
not sure if this is the right forum to post this. HAL9000 if i'm in the wrong part of the forum, please excuse me...or move me LOL

i have WIN98 SE and a 3com homeconnect webcam. i used to be able to use my webcam on Yahoo messenger 5,0,0,0,1053 version, but now it won't braodcast. i went through the help menu and tried ALL their suggestions, even e-mailed them. i can see my image view just fine, so i know the cam works ( it does work fine on nettmeeting) and i can view the other parties webcam, but when i click on invite to view my webcam the others get a message saying my cam is not on line.
this started happening, after i followed a suggestion on here to delete ALL the files and folders in my Temp Files and Temp Internet Files. after i did that it stopped broadcasting....i also get a "network server error" sometimes...
i know deleteing those files and folders should not have changed my registry files, since they were only Temp files and folder...
do some downloads, ie yahoo messenger save files in either TEMP or temorary internet files and by deleting them i accidently screwed up this thing?...
if someone could help me out here ( yahoo help doesn't seem to do me any good) please reply to this post,
if there is anymore info neede let me know...
thanks,
Tommy

PS: this forum is totally AWESOME and HALL9000.......YOU ARE THE MAN !!!!!

I would first try to uninstall then reinstall the Yahoo messenger program.

Or from the login screen click on tools then start my webcam.

Or click on Login then preferences then click on webcam then check camera settings.

When you uninstalled the yahoo instant messanger did you shut down the computer after uninstalling it? If not you have to shutdown then restart the computer after uninstalling the program. Once this is done then proceed to reinstall messanger then once it is installed again shut down then restart the computer.
