Big Big Trouble
In all my posts here at pcmech, I've never needed you all as bad as now.
The be all and end all is that I'm being put in all responsibility of a screwed up server. The original installation of NT 4.0 is absolutely KAPUTT, I've been able to install another NT 4.0 beside the KAPUTT one and can boot up from it.I can see the drives and can recover data from them, no problems. But the major problem is, I havent got a clue how the original installation was setup as in all the important stuff I need to get this new installation on the network as before happy with the other PCs with the same security settings and happily getting on to the internet. I am not an NT expert and dont claim to be, but I am working with a much more experienced tech. on this and he's a bit confused with this one aswell. Any, and I mean any ideas will be appreciated and if I get it up and running with your help I'll be forever in your debt. Damn computers. They'll be the death of me yet! Thanks for reading. |

Thanks very much for your response, to be honest we have taken the pc away to our bench so since we got the installation put in beside the original nt, we haven't had it back onsite. But from what the other tech says he doesn't believe we'll be able to connect unless we know the info on whether it was using DHCP(dunno if thats the right acronym) ar what.Sorry for the vagueness but Im writing from home in a vain attempt to get ideas and dont have contact with the other tech until tomorrow. At the minute all the other pcs are running in safe mode with network support and have a very strict security setting on them( network properties isn't even accessible).
Thanks. |
