System disk.

Is there such a thing as a System Disk in Win2k? How do I make one?

The system disk/startup disk in 2k is actually 4 disks, and the setup can be found on your Windows 2000 CD in the folder "bootdisk".

Keep in mind that the Win2K CD is bootable, so if you set your boot sequence in the BIOS to boot from CD first, there is no need to create the boot disks.

to make a easy bootdisk for windows 2k - this will need to be done on Win2k or WinXP only - format a floppy in either Windows and then copy the file NTLDR to it - this will make it booatble and you can boot with it to A:\ prompt entering windows 2K configuration..

isnt there a 'create startup disk' or boot or something like that in win2k somewhere that makes a generic emergency boot disk same thing right?

Hi ssahl,

Yes there is a backup utility in 2K. Start>Run>type, "ntbackup"

Yes that's true but you need to make four of them and it takes a while till everything got loaded -- formatting a disk in win2k and copying the NTLDR to it will boot the machine in seconds..
