CRASH Removing win 98 from dualboot with 2000

hi guys,

here's my situation. i have a win 98 and 2000 as a dualboot on my toshiba laptop. i originally needed win 98 so that i can get pws working because it would not work under 2000 for sum reason. however after formatting and reinstalling everything from win 98 to 2000 IIS 5.0 works fine under 2k and my site works fine within it. i would like to remove win 98 now because i have IIS 5.0 to work now.

the setup is as follows:

the hardrive is a 20Gig with a single partition. win 98 in C:\windows and w2k is under the C:\Win2000 folder.

id prefer not to format and reinstall everyting again.

all sensible and helpful views and comments are welcome.

thanks in advance
Wakar

Hi Wakar,

I not 100% sure, but I believe that all you have to do is:
  1. Delete the Windows 98 folder
  2. Edit C:\boot.ini (it's hidden) and remove the Windows 98 line from the boot menu.
Hope that helps.

Dr. Zaius,

Doesn't that process leave the boot sector of the hard drive still set up for windows 98? It seems that there must be more to the process. Otherwise it would be possible to re-copy the windows 98 files from a backup onto the hard-drive, revise the boot.ini file to its original state, and the system would be back to dual-boot.
