I have XP pro installed and just installed office XP. I configured Outlook for me (admin account) and it works fine.
Then I go to configure it for my girlfriend (limited account). She uses an IMAP server to get mail. I set everything up and everything works fine ____EXCEPT :{____ ..... when outlook starts for her it starts up in a mailbox called "inbox" that apparently doesn't do anything. Then you have to manually select another inbox created called "inbox - icarus.uic.edu" to see the mail. I know it may seem trivial but I spent like 5 hours trying to get this damn program to work correctly and no luck. I suspect that she loged on and didn't finish the installation so a broken inbox is listed. The problem is I can't get to the ORIGINAL SETUP wizard for Outlook. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling outlook but it seems to remember the old settings.. I even tried to use the "reset my usage profile" but that won't work. Man I can't express how pissed I am that this software works so badly. Please help me. I absolutey REFUSE to run outlook and look at that empty folder every damn time she gets her mail knowing that it does nothing. I put the default mail back to express and set it to run minimized at startup (in the damn toolbar...... not in the system tray which is where it SHOULD go but microscrew won't let you put it there for some reason). Which reminds me ---- why the hell can't you minimize outlook or express to the system tray??? Only microsoft has the logic necessary to make this decision. Near as I can tell there is a registry hack that lets you do it for OUTLOOK but not express.... Thats why I want outlook functional... but see my above problem!!!!!!!!! THERE HAS GOT TO BE AN EASIER WAY!!!!!!! Is there another good mail program (eudora maybe) that 1) has a calender/scheduler 2) runs minimized in the system tray 3) doesn't suck like microsoft products ....and Microsoft doesn't realize why people don't like to pay for their software.... |
