fqpissed Windows XP Logo Testing/Installing new hardware

Thanks with the aid from PCmech I have my first build with Win XP install and running great. One thing that was bothering me when I was installing XP was the Windows XP Logo. Im not talking about the picture logo but the driver BS that happens when your installing some hardware. Way I see it Mr. Gates wants this operating system to do everything for you when you install it and it practicly did too. I was impressed. But then I had a window pop up when I was trying to install my videocard telling me that if I used this it would keep my system form running (in a nut shell). Since then I found Driver Signing Options in the system properties. Would it be best to keep this checked in ignore? I dont see any reason why not. I know it would have saved me a head ache or two while I was trying to install my video card. Below is what info I found in the help files in XP.
""Designed for Microsoft Windows XP Logo
Hardware and software products displaying the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo have been tested for compatibility with Microsoft Windows operating systems through use of Microsoft-provided testing procedures. For the best performance, Microsoft recommends using hardware products that display the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo on the external packaging and on the device itself.
Software for hardware products with the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo has a digital signature from Microsoft, indicating that the product was tested for compatibility with Windows and has not been altered since testing. For the latest updates, including security fixes, service packs, new Help files, and device drivers, see Windows Update in Help and Support Center. You may also want to contact the hardware vendor directly and ask for a device driver that has met the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo requirements. For more information, visit the Microsoft Windows Logo Program (go to http://www.microsoft.com/ and search for "Windows logo program") on the Microsoft Web site.
Warning
Microsoft strongly recommends you only use device drivers with the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo. Installing device drivers that have not been digitally-signed by Microsoft may disable the system, allow viruses onto your computer, or otherwise impair the correct operation of your computer either immediately or in the future.""
I have attached a pic see below.

Not ignore, but probably the middle one. Just a guess, was it an Nvidia card driver? That one is fine, ignore the warning, as I usually do anyway lol. It's not THAT big of a deal if the manufacturer makes spcial note that it is okay to install on xp.

Yeah I have it set to the middle one. But I was a first timmer to XP and this error message when I was trying to install that thing was driving me nuts at the time. Yes it is a Nvidia. I have been running the system for a week now. Works good so far. Hareware manufacturers need to plaster notes all over there website about this. For newbie builder tips to remember.

If you get your drivers directly from the manufacturer, chances are they will work well. If you wait for m$ to test them they will be almost 6 months old before they are signed and a newer driver will be available. I for 1 always disable the driver signing check.

oh yeah, one more thing, i've had more problems with the old drivers on the windows update site than anything else, my advice is to keep away from them and go to the manufacturer instead.
