Intel chipset update?

I've gotten into really optimizing my system as of late. Yes the tweaks are flying left & right. I'm mainly looking to 'fix' some games that I play that don't really like windows 2000. The problem is usually a strange flicker effect that is really hard to describe. I get it on several games though, including Medal of Honor, RTCW, Tony Hawk 3 & others.

My question is the table found here on intel's site says that win2000 does not properly recognize my chipset (i850). And it tells me to use the inf update utility found here to update it. I'd heard that you don't need to do this for an intel chipset though. Will this cause more problems than it will solve? Do any of you do this routinely?

Also Intel has a application accelerator found here. Have you used this? Does it do any good?

You can go ahead and update the INF. As for the application accelerator, I've installed in on many systems, but haven't done any comparisons with and without it to see if it really makes any difference.

I couldn't say really, whenever I've done a system for a client, I've always done all the updates for everything right away.

I use the inf updater and install the Ultra ATA storage drivers but I stay away from the application accelerator when I do 2K on Intel 815 and newer boards.

Thanks for the help gentlemen. I managed to somewhat fix my gaming problems by doing the inf update, and turning v-sync on.
