XP and Outlook 2000
I am running XP Pro and have two log in accounts with all priviledges on both accounts. When one checks the email messages, the mail will not show in the other account's Outlook in-box. Is there a way around this so both accounts can "see" the mail messages? Thanks

If your ISP supports it, you can go into the email account settings->advanced->and leave mail on server. I'm sure there are other ways, but this would be an easy work around.

Both XP accounts can share the same Outlook profile or you can use separate profiles pointing to the same Outlook data file (,pst).

Let's see. You're using Outlook 2000. That will take a few minutes to refresh my memory.
With Outlook 2002, you right-click the Outlook icon and choose Properties then edit each of the profiles. There is a separate icon to choose the data file to be used for the profile. Give me a few minutes to poke around on my NT machine and I'll post back. The Old Man |

danny,
In poking around, I remembered that sharing a data file in Outlook 2000 was only possible when using Corporate/Workgroup support in conjunction with an Exchange server. This may not be appropriate for your case. How is your Outlook installed and configured? I'm assuming it's probably with Internet email to an ISP, right? You may be limited to sharing the Outlook profile. Will that work for you? If not, I'll look further. To share the Outlook profile, create a generic one and then check the option to always start with the selected profile. Hope that helps. The Old Man |

OK, I'm not that good with XP or Outlook, so where do I go to setup this profile? Thanks for your time.

DANNY,
No problem. Right-click on the Outlook icon on the desktop and choose Properties. This will bring up a dialog that will show the profiles defined for Outlook. The appearance may differ depending upon what has already been configured but look for the profiles. If none, click "Add" to create one. If one has already been created, select it. Somewhere in the dialog, there should also be a check box to tell Outlook which profile to start with. Make sure the option to always start with the selected profile is checked. Save the config and that should do it for you. The Old Man |
