I just put in a new system after cracking my mother board by accident and when i put in the floppy and try to read it,it says it's not formated. The problem is that it's formate, even if i try to format it give me the disk write protected when it's not.Is it windows problem, floopy drive it self or did i missed up the cable some how.

Does this happen on just the one floppy or all floppies?

In the accident that cracked the motherboard, was the case hit by something, or did the accident involve just the motherboard?

Cool

If cable is connected correctly, connector after twist to drive and other end to mobo. Check that no pins are bent. Check BIOS settings under CMOS setting that Drive "A" is set to 1.44 and nothing is entered for Drive "B". Also under advanced settings check that Swap Floppy Drive is disabled. As a last resort try a different cable.

just checked the bios everything is correct. The only thing i guess is left is to try another floopy cable or the drive it self.
