show hidden files and show file extensions
Hi here is the problem. My grandson has to install a CD onto his computer for his school work, in the instructions on how to do this, it tells him to go into Windows Explorer then tools,Folder options, view and make sure that "show hidden files and folders" is checked and "hide file extensions for known file types " also "hide protected operating system files" are not checked.
He has followed these instructions but the options listed above are not available on his version of Windows Explorer in this view box. I have checked it out on my computer and the options are available, but I am runninng ME would that be different to his Win98se. If so how does he get around to installing it on his computer. Are there some alternative options that mean the same thing but worde differently in his version of Windows Explorer. What he actually has to do is use windows Explorer to show hidden files and show file extensions. If that makes sense. Thanks for any replies in advance guys.

Hi needhelp,
I use Windows 98SE and in Explorer I would go to View> Folder Options> in the Folder Options box, click on the View tab and then make the change to Show All Files and show to file extensions. You could also go to Start> Settings> Folder Options> and you'd get the Folder Options box again. Cricket
