Question Cannot combine unpartioned space

Hi everybody,
Long time no post LOL, i come back with a question.
My sisters computer has a dual boot win 2K and win XP Pro. So she wants to rid herself of the dual boot, boot menu all together. So she trys to fdisk ( i dont know what she did ) but now when i pop in the win XP cd and see the partions it goes like
c unpartioned space 10001
d unpartioned space 10001
e files and stuff wat ever space dont remember
8 megs
So now when i highlight the unpartion space and create partion it only give me 10001, so i try to delete the partion but its already unpartioned and wont let me, so wat do i do to combine the two unpartioned space ? And also when i do this will it rid me of the boot menu ? any help would be appreciated THANKS ahead......

What is the read drive size?

The system shows two drives of the same size, but is the physical drive the same size as all the partitions together or are you seeing incorrect info?

If she originally setup the dual boot configuration with DYNAMIC disks, instead of BASIC disks, the 2000/XP CD setup will not be able to format over the old partitions. You must remove the partitions and format the drive to a FAT16 or FAT32 drive with some other utility (like DOS fdisk with /mbr OR PartitionMagic).

This is by MS design. Because Dynamic drives have special allocations, if you format over any primary Dynamic drive all data is lost on other dynamic partitions.

PS, I would never use or create a MS Dynamic drive until MS makes Dynamic drive recovery/restore/rebuild utilities available for free. Other utilities providing these functions cost more than $200.

Good luck
