Angry Fire Roxio easy cd 5 basic

Anyone have a problem with this program it can with my computer
Compaq 1.6 ghz win xp computer it worked fine went to buy the upgrade "East CD creator 5 PLATINUM" now the program won`t start if I click on the icon (in other words it does nother like I never clicked on it)tried to download a patch for it the patch said "there`s no roxio produts registered" then I have to exit I tied to downgrade NOW easy cd 5 basic is doing the same thing I havent found much info about this problem

I just know one thing I wasted $89.99 for a program that won`t work on my XP system and it made the first program not work as well (easy CD 5 basic)

So I went and bought Iomega HotBurn program for around $20.00
that works fine BUT it still bugs the heck out of me why I can`t get Roxio`s program to work

can anyone help?????

Thanks

toomyg,
I know this isn't an instant fix, and you might of already done this, but have you contacted the sw co. for help on your problem? I feel for you too! It is terrible when you get some sw for your computer and it doesn't work. I'd voice your problem to the company though. Good luck!

Is the ugrade a standalone product? Did you uninstall all previous versions first?

Start completely from scratch, making sure there is no remains of the product on your computer first.

(edit)
I do remember hearing a number of problems with certain versions of Roxio on XP, but I can't remember what they are, I will try to find them.

Also just for recommendations sake, Nero 5.5 is an excellent program, and fully compatible with XP. I love it. (/edit)

I had Roxio Platinum of my machine when I installed XP. XP said it would have issues with it during the system check, I installed anyway figuring I could live without the software if I had too. XP immediatley after install gave me a direct link to the patch for Roxio on XP. Link was right and never a problem with Roxio after patched.

Also, you said the shortcut was bad, where in in an admin account during install and does the software work via the exe in the file folder? Could just be the icon is bad

on xp, you need to use 5.1 and then it will remove the take two from the menue, it does not work with xp, but all else works just fine.

You are lucky we have several Dell notebooks with XP Pro that can run the software but will bluescreen frequently with it installed whether it is running or not. They run Nero just fine.
