Now you've probably heard this one so many times but it's so annoying. Every so often A box appears "Explorer Illegal opperation" & I have to close explorer it then messes up my whole desktop with me eventually having to restart my pc. I check details it says an error with KERNEL.32, I've heard that it isn't a virus as Kernel is spelt with the capitals. Any ideas on how to stop it from happening, last time I got so annoyed I reformated my P.C, Thx.
Oh yeh also recommendations on new hard drives plz

Hi no1_knows,
What kind of programs and applications are running in background on your system? What OS are you using? Have you tried running your system with only Explorer and Systray listed in the box that pops up when you hit Ctrl Alt Del? See if anything here helps: Kernel.32 Errors. What is KERNEL32.DLL? For hard drives, look at the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus D740X series or Western Digital WDBB or WDJB series. Cricket

Ahhh programs lol , well I generally like to turn most off. The ones left running are MsN messenger, Accelerate 2002 ( cool software speeds up yer internet connection ) PoP up stopper, C-Media mixer ( i downloaded an update from microsoft & for multi jack out this has to stay on :'( though ity does enable me to use multiple sounds) as for background programs alot.... lets name a few Rnaap, cd_load, load qm, alogserver, few others but they arn't really anything. Just asked me mate about kernel.32 don't know what it is but its neccesary to run. Any ideas?

Hi no1_knows,
Try going into Windows Explorer> Windows> Temp and delete everything you find in here. Then go to the Temporary Internet Files folder and delete everything you find in there. Run Scandisk and Defrag. Do a full system virus scan with updated definitions. Do a scan for spyware and trojans. Use Ad-Aware for spyware and The Cleaner for trojans. Cricket
