At startup I get the black screen and the message "the following file is missing or corrupt: winnt32/ntoskrnl." The problem started when my wireless kb and mouse croaked. Nothing I did would get the to work so I ended up having to power the system down while in still in Windows. The next time it booted I got the message. I have a pretty good idea what happened, but I was too lazy so I never made an emergency repair disk (learned my lesson for next time). Is there any way to fix this without an ERD or am I pretty much out of luck?

I believe you can boot from the win2000 cdrom and repair your win2000 installation without loosing any of your data on your HD!

I tried that, but I can't do an emergency repair or use the repair console without the disk. Is there any other way to access the drive so I can rescue a couple things?

Are you saying you don't have the 2000 cd?

I have the CD but I never made a repair disk. I can boot into setup just fine but when I try to repair it tells me I need the repair disk. Sorry if I confused anyone.
