XP restarts when I tell it to shut down.
By shutting down normally (through Start/Shut Down/Turn Off) the system will shut down but then come right back on (as if restarted). This means I have to power off manually while the PC is starting up again (not a healthy thing, I know).
Three things you should know: 1. No, I am not "accidentaly" hitting Restart. 2. If I boot Win ME on the same machine, it shuts down just fine. 3. It wasn't always doing this, which means I must have changed something, but I don't know what. Thanks for any suggestions. It's probably really simple (I hope) but I don't have a clue. Well I do have Roxio Easy CD 3.0 installed. I haven't upgraded yet, and they don't give "XP fix" downloads unless you have version 5.0. Now that I think about it, it might have started happening when I installed that.
I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks. |

Roxio is just plain lousy .. the general consensus is towards favoring Nero.

Your hibernation must be on. That's what happened to me.

The problem is Roxio (Adaptec? if version 3) it is not supported under XP and neither is ver. 4
If you load Roxio 5.0, 5.01 or 5.02 it will do this and restart all the time. Upgrade to to the XP patch ver 5.1, 18 meg! download, or use something else. I use Roxio without any problems on XP & ME and have been using it since version 2, 1997 and never had any problems. |

I disabled the Automatic Restart and I got a blue error screen the next time I shut down. It suggested checking all new hardware I had recently installed to be sure they were working properly.
I installed Easy CD 3 from the disk that came with my Iomega ZipCD-WR 12X4X32. Is there other software that will run with Iomega drives besides Roxia products? The 5.0 upgrade on their site cost about half much as I paid for the drive a couple years ago. Thanks. |

P.S.
My primary use for this whole system is going to be Video CD authoring from Pinnacle Studio 7. I've been experimenting with Studio's capture and editing features, but I've yet to try to author a CD that will play on my DVD player (which is supposedly Video CD compatible). I eventually plan to get a DVD writer, but in the mean time I was hoping to dabble with Vid CDs. Is there any special software I would need for authoring besides Studio and the Iomega burning software? |
