Windows Media player problem

Hey guys

Among the other issues with the comp, this is the latest one
I recently d/led the DX8.1 SDK, changed to Debug files, then changed back to Runtime. I also switched my CD player, but not my burner. I'm running WinXP Pro.

Well, when ever i try to run videos, such as .AVI or MPEG, i get an ASSERT error...the error message itself is something like d:\multimedia blah blah...but here's the thing: the D drive is my CD burner, and there's nothing in it.

Also, when i try using Divx Player, i get no errors.

Someone please let me know if i need to re-install codecs or something!
