XP Administrative Tools, hmm...
Just installed XP and the Administrative Tools seem to be missing. The directory itself is present in Control Panel and under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools but it's empty. By default, I'm the administrator, so that shouldn't be the problem. Checked the CD to see if maybe I didn't install it but the closest I found was Management and Monitoring Tools, which is already installed. Is there something else I missed or another way to install Admin Tools without reinstalling XP?
Thanks - Paganboy -

Try this.....Right click on the START button and click PROPERTIES.
On the START MENU tab, click CUSTOMIZE On the ADVANCED tab, under START MENU ITEMS, scroll to SYSTEM ADMINISTRATVE TOOLS Click or select either on of the first two items (Display on all program menu or display on program menu and start menu) and click OK shadow_man

This didn't exactly solve the problem but, I right-clicked My Computer, then clicked manage. It brought me into the administrator screen so I'm able to access it that way
Too bad it's still invisible in Control Panel and the folder.Shadow_man, thanks. I tried your way but it made no difference. At least I'm able to access it another way. I'd still ove to figure this mystery out. |

Try right-click on start menu, open all users, click on programs, then click on administrative tools.

But there's the problem, Mairving. When I do that, the administrative tools folder is empty.

Here's what is suppose to be in the Administrative Tools folder:
Component Services; Computer Management; Data Sources(ODBC); Event Viewer; Performance; and Services. They are all shortcuts and can be found in the WINDOWS\system32 folder on your system root drive IE: C:\. Component Services is in WINDOWS\system32\Com folder and the rest are in system32. shadow_man
