starting up in dos mode???

how do you start up in dos mode in XP Pro? i press F8 during start up but there is not option for command prompt. i need to format my laptop thats running XP.

There is no dos with XP. If you formating for a reinstall of XP just boot to the XP cd-rom and follow the setup where you will find an option to format the drive.

well i am selling it, so i am just gonna format so the person who buys it can put whatever OS they want on it. ill go do that, hopefully i can format and not reinstall.

In that case get a 98 boot disk, run fdisk and delete the non dos partition and then format.
