You could always use an ethernet card, then it won't show up.
I only get it for certain USB devices, like my Zip250, but all other USB devices don't need it. My ext. modem is on my network card so the icon doesn't show up for that. |

lol, what is everyone's problem with USB? I've never had any problem with USB/USB on XP that was directly related to the USB connection.
I had the same icon on WinME, but it went away after using the ATAPI USB Hub driver that came with my hardware. I'd try the same with this, but it's most likely the newest version available. |

Well, my USBzip250 is connected directly to the back of the ssytem. Plus it is optimized for performance in XP. If i set it for compatibilty instead the icon goes away, but I would rather have the speed.
Soon I will be looking in to a powered USB2.0 hub and card. Do you think that will rid the need of that darn icon and the need to optimize the drive to keep it up to good speed?? Or will I be unable to optimize it at all and be stuck with slower speed? I just don't know, yet. But I will be getting the hardware anyway, because soon I say "bye-bye" to the Zip250. |
