No disk cleanup function

I can't seem to get disk cleanup to work on my C drive. I start the program and it begins scanning, then just hangs there indefinitely. After I hit cancel my computer runs very slowly until I roboot. I'm using XP with a raid array. Thanks. --BB

Well, the RAID array is a little slower, but not by a whole lot. What you could do is go in and manually delete the contents of the "C:\windows\temp" and the "C:/windows/temporary internet files" folders, and empty the recycle bin.

Since I haven't had many opportunities to work with XP, I'm not 100% sure that the folders are where they are like on win 95/98/2000.

I think RAID 0 should be *a litte faster*, more advnaced RAID like RAID 1 or 0 + 1 might take a hit on preformance.

Agreed, manually delete(or try to) the files in the hisotry and temp files folder as those will be the largest.

Thanks guys. Manually deleting the history and temp files is a practical solution to the problem of actually cleaning up the disk (though one that I'd overlooked), but I'm still scratching my head as to why the disk cleanup program is hanging that way.

Sometimes it will take a long time to figure how much space you can save by compressing old files. Too bad there is not an easy way to turmn that off. Or I don't know of one anyway.
