cd burning
I have a problem burning data to cdr with XP. I have tried different brands and when trying to copy to cd the error message
"please insert writable cd" comes up. I don't have a problem when burning music from media player, works fine. Any idea's? I am not using any extra software and cd burner is generic 8x4x32, on xp home edition. |

Just how are you trying to copy? To use it like you might a floppy drive you must first format the CD using a "packet writing" software. InCD (Nero) and DirectCD (Roxio) are programs I've used.
To "burn" a CD, you need not format, but you will need a program such as Nero or Roxio's Easy CD Creator. |

I sent files to cdrw drive and then clicked write to cd, I thought XP
would write to cd without additional software. |

Yes XP includes a burning engine. The way you do it should work. Have you checked that the WinXP burning engine is enabled for your burner ?

I rechecked and all the services are runnning including Imapi, I can't think of anything that has changed since it last worked, It still will burn a music cd from media player. I have tried several brands of blank cd's and both cdr and cdrw, and it always comes
up with the insert writable cd error. I even tried a reinstall of Xp, no luck. |
