uninstall XP

Greetings,

My version of XP (home edition) is upgraded from Windows 98.Several weeks ago I recieved the "blue screen of death" due to a power surge. Thanks to the help of the good people on this forum and Microsoft I was able to get my computer up and running. However it is still not right. I want to uninstall XP and start over but can't.
I go to Windows XP uninstall and click on it I get the message "the backup files for your previous version of Windows are incomplete or missing". When I click OK I get a prompt asking if I want to "remove the backup of my previous system". When I click "yes, continue" it tells me that if I remove the backup of my previous operating sys. I will no longer be able to uninstall XP.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Do u have your files and data that you need backed up ? if u do then do a clean install of xp, boot with the xp cd and delete the partition then format the way u like (NTFS)...clean installs alwasy better than a upgrade...

what kakarott said or you can fdisk the drive and boot from cd.

If you boot from cd make sure the cd is set for the first place that bios looks to boot up.

Copy the files you want to save to another computer, floppies, CD or another partition. You will loose anything you don't save somewhere else.
Put your XP CD in a choose new install.
