problem booting

hi
ok, i have a friend who called me and explained this problem to me: it says that there is a cd-rom failure on the post screen. then a blue screen comes up. at the blue screen it says that windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer
and then says unmountable_boot_volume

and then it says to check all the newly installed hardware and software and remove any of those if there is a problem and it also says to disable Bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. any ideas? thanks in advance.

Hi DUSTIN,

Is this a new build?

Remove the CD-ROM drive and try to boot up. If all goes well, re-install the CD-ROM drive and boot up again and see what happens.

Try the CD-ROM in another computer.

Try another CD-ROM in this computer.

Are all cables installed properly?

Are all drive jumpers set properly?
