I'm not clear here, are the shortcuts disappearing or the icons merely changing? Do they still work? On my comp occasionaly icons seem to switch around a bit.

Hi regans cortina,

I think you're asking this question in the wrong forum. Try asking this in the WinNT/2000/XP or Internet forums instead.

Hey Cricket!

This is the NT/2000/XP forum!... LOL

Sometimes locking the Desktop seems to work. I think it can be kind of a Windows oddity. There must be a reason why they are not loading. Shortcuts you make manually don't seem to so this as bad. I haven't had any icons on my desktop since '95. It doesn't seem like its handled any better now.

does it to me once in a while... a red shortcut "arrow" suddenly appears on the desktop... but they disappear if i reboot... totally weird, but if it isnt messing with anything else on your system, i wouldnt worry too much.... only thing i can think of for you to check would be http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q320154 ....

good luck
