Ok, I just upgraded my mobo, ram, cpu, and gfx card. I figured XP would be able to handle it, but on bootup I got a BSOD. Not wanting to lose any of my stuff, I installed XP again on 15 gigs of unpartitioned space that I had at the end of my hdd. It boots fine now, but I have to choose which installation to boot. The one that works is on "G" and the BSOD installation is on "C". I copied over my Documents and Settings folder for my user and all users so I have all my stuff back in my start menu and desktop. Now I have some problems.
1) Almost all the shortcuts in my startmenu point to drive G even tho it should be pointing to drive C. 2) I want to get rid of the XP installation from drive C and make it my storage partition and have no list of OSs to choose from when I boot up. 3) I want to switch Drives C and G so C has the windows and G has programs. How can I do/fix these things? I'm kinda scared to do anything thinking I might not be able to boot back into windows. TIA. RenegadeKing

What a pickle! Yeah there a few ways that may work. You really need to back up what you want on another drive, to CD, or another computer. Just get a copy of it somewhere besides that drive.
If it is calling the G drive C now you can copy that partition with Ghost and then install it on the real C drive. The easiest and best way is gonna be to save your data and just start over. |

Yea, I guess I'll just back up what I want and start from scratch. I'm gonna be smart this time and install windows to a small partition and have the rest for storage, so the next time this happens I won't have to go thru backing stuff up again.

I think that works better. Be sure to give XP a lot of room to grow because it will.
