bootup

hello
i have a friend just call he said he went to add remove, removed a program and when he reboots he gets as far as the windows 98 logo and then he gets an internet explorer eror box and cant get any further is there a way from the bios to correct this or maybe put original settings.its ibm windows 98

Hit f10 during boot up then choose safe mode, then check your system from there.

okay talked to him again, he has a very strong accent, so i find it hard to slow him down and get some info from him. it says page fault, moduler explorer.exe 015f-00401f31
registerseax=00000000 and then i lost him can anyone see anything in that.
thanks(he also said he doesnt fully get into safe mode, he gets as far as the box saying your running on a minimum amount of ....whatever it says.then you click ok. then he cant get past that.)

something new to add , he said he removed bonzi buddy before this happened im thinking virus now.any one heard virus problems with bonzi buddy

Check this out, maybe it didn't uninstall right: bonzi buddy . Also, has he tried scanreg/restore? That may put it back to normal so he can start over.

ifound this link how do i get to a command line if i cant get into windows http://support.microsoft.com/default...EN-US;q296211& i hope the link works dont know how to do it thanks for the link roger but he cant get that far into windows it would have to be from dos iguess not sure what to do

Use a startup disk, like the article explains. If you don't have one try this site: Bootdisk Hope this helps.

i hve a windows 98 bootdisk is that all i need ithink he bought the computer with 98 installed so he doesnt have a disk can i use my disk to extract what files he needs.

He should have a recovery or restore disk, if not he needs to check with the seller to get one.

If you have a 98 disk it will work fine, sorry missed that part, read too fast.

You can make a boot disk by going to control panel click on add/remove programs then click on the start up disk tab.

on the link i gave it said that this is caused by juno software what is this, his error numbers match but that doesnt make any sense,does it matter can i still go ahead and try that

Juno is or was free internet, from what I understand it would be the same for the error, just a different software that caused it. Since Bonzi Buddy interfaces with Internet Explorer it probably corrupted some files during the uninstall. Anyway in my way of thinking this should fix the problem unless there is something else wrong.
