Exclamation boot problem...

i restarted my computer this morning, after it was working well, but slow since it has been on overnight downloading stuff, and on the restart it gives me this error:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original cd-rom. Select 'r' at the first sceen to repair."

but the problem is that i can boot from the cd-rom, it doesnt let me get that far. what can i do??

thanks ^dan

Do you have the system set to boot from CDROM first in the BIOS?

You have the BIOS set to boot from CD first and it won't boot with the XP disc loaded... Strange... I've never encountered a problem like that.

Sorry I can't be more help!

Sounds like it may be overheating. Shut it down and let it cool off for a few hours. Check all fans for proper operation and blow all the dust out of the system, paying particular attention to fans and heatsink fins.
