Win XP Home Questions...
Hey guys,
I am currently on a Win 98se system which I would like to upgrade to XP Home. I have no need for the Professional version because I don't need any of those other features. Anyway, could I just buy the UPGRADE disc? Because I hear that if you have a previous version of Windows, and you HAVE THE CD, you can just buy the upgrade disc, and do a clean install from there... Would I have to get the FULL version to do a clean install? Also, when installing, I would just go to my bios and make it boot from CD right? Since XP has all the formatting and partitioning tools built in? Thanks a lot guys, Dave |

You can do a fresh install with just the upgrade. It will ask for your 98 cd to verify your eligibility for the "upgrade" and then continue with the install.
Whatever you do, don't actually upgrade on top of 98, repartition and do a freshy. Format in NTFS (full, not quick) |
