ASCII smiley face directory
The system is Windows ME and has lots of problems that I will not go into here. From the Command prompt doing a dir of C: I see a smiley face directory where the windows directory should be. I am not familiar with this one. Does anyone know what this is?

Sounds like time to do a virus scan, check this out McAfee. Especially read under the Symptons heading.

Hi K A Hall,
Ya, I sounds like either a virus or just a plain old scrambled drive... Good Luck! TwoRails |

I've also seen this with a virus and HDD's with corrupted system files. I have been able to save a few with DEBUG and a clean OS install. If you want the DEBUG commands that have worked for me, email me and I'll send them to you.

Thanks everybody. I still don't know what the smiley face is, but the hard drive is trashed according to the Maxtor utilities. RMA'd it today.
