Uninstalling Windows 2K
I had XP on my first hard drive, and I installed Windows 2K on my second hard drive, but I had problems with it (Inaccessable_Boot_Devce).
well I already formated the 2000 disk, and when I start my computer I still get the choose your os screen. I'm very sure it has to do with the boot.ini file. Here's what it says : [boot loader] timeout=5 default=signature(d478d478)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] signature(d478d478)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect I'm sure I read you just need to delete the "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect" part, but I'm not sure yet. Another thing is I had to fix the NTDETECT.com and NTLDR files because XP wouldn't load and now I have those file as hidden only and not as system files, how can I change that? |

I already replaced the NT files and fixed the boot up problem. Then I formatted the 2000 disk so I only have XP but I still get the dual boot screen. As I said I think it has to do with the boot file.

Did you try removing this line in the Boot.ini file?

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
Oops forgot to paste it in. |

When I've had a dual boot I was able to remove that line and still reboot successfully

Yes, that seemed to fix the problem
