Is it legal to install multiple XPs with the same CD key for home use only?

hi
follow this thread.. http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=34323 and you'll see that it appears you can only use XP on 1 comp... any other comp you have must have another XP, new, cd for installation... |

You can install XP on as many computers as you want with one disc. You'll have to purchase a license for each machine. Unfortunately the price break is very small. You can save some money by shopping around.

What does Fortune have to do with it, that implies that i am LUCKY to be able to purchase what i want. I work hard, have a good education and made good life decisions to get where i am. Luck had nothing to do with it.

Well, money has a lot to do in life. I can buy almost all MS products, but for those who don't have jobs like younsters, they can't buy it. |

Is it OK if I steal from you if you're rich? Very few of us would go into a store and take something without paying for it. Yet many people think it's perfectly OK to bootleg software. It's really the same thing; it's stealing.

Just a FYI, nothing to do with multi copies...
Did you know that the price of Mr. Gate's house is more than all the residences / homes of the adjacent counties Combined!! TwoRails PS: My take on the subject? Starting with Win 98, I own 3 98's, one ME, and one XP. Does a Billionnare miss $2.00?? Of course not. Do they miss $2.00 X 10^7 ?? You bet. |

I look at it like this...I might have stood in the same room with Bill Gates and wished like hell my net worth was closer or far ahead of his...but irregardless I WON'T pick his pocket.

I think this thread is leaning in the wrong direction,
it is only leagle to have one os per computer, each system must have its own copy of windows, thats the bottm line folks. |

Put yourself in his shoes folks. When you steal MS software and justify it that your one little copy doesn't make a difference, remember, you and thousands others are saying the same thing and it's no longer a couple bucks outta his billions.
If I stole a single dollar from you personally, would you really be that upset? Now what if only 10% of the members here on PCM each stole a dollar from you.... how do you feel now?
