I am running Win 98 2nd. I recently installed McAfee to get rid of a virus. The anti-virus program identified a file called "dAV_excl.mmf"
The problem is that my computer will not let me delete this file !!! I get a message that says, "cannot delete this file, "it may be used by another application", "you do not have rights to delete this file" What gives??? How can I delete this file, that was flagged as infected by my McAfee 6.0 program ??? Please help. |

Did you try to repair the file using McAfee?
Another option is booting from a bootable floppy disk and deleting the infected file using DOS commands. |

Try from safe mode. If it's a virus that is in startup, it's active and cannot be deleted. Starting in safe mode will bypass that.

I always used to open the Command (ctrl-alt-delete) and take out anything that didn't look right, then I generally could delete the virus, but hals way sounds easier.
