Internet Explorer problems (Win95)
Hi guys,
A friend of mine is having a major problem with the internet at the moment. He can connect fine (dialup) and then opens up Internet Explorer... The title bar will appear for the website he is trying to load, but as the blue loading bar across the bottom fills up he gets an Illegal Operation box which tells him he must close IE It is IE5, Windows 95 This is the error (roughly): IEXPLORE.EXE caused an expection error in module wininet.dll (blah blah...) Any help? Anybody have ANY ideas as to what is going on (I just need to give him a few ideas) Sounds like a virus? Let me know...

Thanks glc,
I followed the links through to a Microsoft Knowledge base site detailing the exact error It told of how to remove the Temporary Internet Folder via the DOS Prompt. This has fixed the problem! However, even though he's only removed that one folder, his Internet Explorer is now Version 4! Any ideas why!? Thanks Jim |
